Call: James Dyson Award 2010/VIENNA DESIGN WEEK Debut

This year again the James Dyson Foundation supports innovative projects from young problem solvers and from 2.2. until 1.7.2010 calls for entries for this year’s James Dyson Award (JDA).  Projects from 18 participating countries, Austria included, will be assessed by an independent jury and may be handed in by students and former students (who graduated no longer than 4 years ago) from the fields of product design, industrial design and engineering.

The special theme for this year’s entries for the JDA is: Invent a product that works better. The task being therefore to find new solutions to well-known problems. The overall winner will receive the sum of
10 000 British Pounds, the same amount will be awarded to his or her university department. The jury‘s decision will be announced on October 5th.

Austrian participants oft the JDA will again be given the opportunity to present their innovative projects during VIENNA DESIGN WEEK Debüt, the newcomers‘ platform oft the festival. From all Austrian entries for JDA a specialist Austrian jury will choose the ten best projects. These will, as last year, be presented in an exhibition as part of the festival and receive the attention of a designthirsty, even international, audience.
